The Mysterious Island

I read this book quite recently and I loved it.  So it’s with great pleasure I can get the chance to share it as a free audiobook. The story is not one of Jules Verne’s better know works, but in many ways I think it is one of his best.  It has flavors of Robinson Crusoe and The Swiss Family Robinson with the main characters being stranded on a mysterious, seemingly uninhabited, Pacific island after attemting to escape from Civil War era America.  It’s full of surprises, with the island hiding many secrets including a mysterious and legendary character from another of Verne’s novels.

The book is very gripping and I could easily imagine myself in the situation of all the characters.  It’s a great read and a joy to have in easy listening free audio book format.
