Probably written between 1350 and 1353, Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio’s The Decameron is a collection of 100 classic short stories. It is a medieval allegorical work that includes tales of love in all it’s manifestations. Shakespeare and Chaucer are said to have borrowed from The Decameron.
