Paradise Lost
John Milton’s, Paradise Lost, is considered to be the first epic work of English literature written in the classical style. It is the work of a man who thought of himself as the intellectual heir to the great classical writers such as Homer, Dante and Virgil. Paradise Lost was memorized and dictated by the blind Milton and was transcribed by his daughter.
Much of the imagery we have today of heaven and hell, angels and demons comes from this mighty work of literature.
