Around the World in Eighty Days
Jules Verne’s, Around the World in Eighty Days, is a classic adventure novel about the intrepid Phileas Fogg and his recently employed French servant, Passepartout and their attempts to win a bet to circumnavigate the world in 80 days – a feat that would have seemed pretty far fetched traveling from late 19th century London. A joy to children and adults alike, this is one you ought to listen to in free audiobook format. Stream to the right or download with from the button above.

Wow, this was grueling to try and listen too, so I have no input to give on the substance of the book. I couldn’t bear listening to more than a few paragraphs. I commend the young man who has attempted to narrate this book, and I am sure this was a wonderful learning experience for him. However, I am surprised that this is presented here as a valid recording for our listening enjoyment. While listening, I have the same feeling that I get when listening to my own child’s heroic attempt at reading a book aloud that is a bit above her reading level, and having to eagerly stand by at the ready, to help her finish pronouncing a word correctly if she gets stuck. I found myself silently cheering the speaker on instead of listening to the text itself. I must say, though, that I did like his foreign accents and that he changed his voice to differentiate between the characters. It is refreshing to find a young man that would undertake such an endeavor as this when he could be playing a video game.
I love adultbooks and adventures
