A mysterious map, pirates, and gold… The archetypical swashbuckling adventure. The book revolves around a young lad called Jim Hawkins who comes across a map to pirates’ gold which sets him on the adventure of a lifetime, taking him from his dull English village to a desert island with murderous pirates. The author, Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), was born in Scotland and travelled extensively in California and the south Pacific where he drew much of the inspiration for this novel. A classic free audiobook for young and old alike.
